Inside Avalanche: A Nordic Political Thriller

Avalanche is a Nordic political thriller universe about the promise of security and the people who discover what lies behind it. Its interconnected stories follow Agatha, Kaylia and Moses through a fictional Nordic Commonwealth, where loyalty to an institution does not always mean loyalty to the people it is meant to protect.

Political intrigue, investigation and tactical action form the backdrop to character-driven stories. You can begin with a character, explore the history or try a free browser investigation. You do not need to learn the entire timeline before stepping inside.

Why set a political thriller in the Nordic countries?

Avalanche begins with a familiar impression of the Nordic region: security, stability and institutions people can trust. That impression makes it an interesting setting for a story about what happens behind the curtains. The tension comes from recognising something reassuring, then discovering how much remains out of sight.

The setting is also close to home for its creator. Familiar places become the starting point for an alternative history, rather than a claim that its fictional institutions or conspiracies exist in real life.

The Commonwealth's promise of protection

In Avalanche's alternative timeline, successive crises draw Nordic countries towards closer cooperation. Shared responses offer genuine benefits. The Nordic Commonwealth grows from a promise that its members can protect their people more effectively together.

That promise matters. The world is not built around the idea that every institution is false or everyone working inside it is corrupt. Public service, cooperation and personal conviction give people reasons to believe in the system.

But Nordic Intelligence's private structure leaves gaps in public oversight. Surveillance, political influence and commercial interests become increasingly difficult to separate. The question is no longer only whether the system can protect people. It is who can question the people directing it.

When security becomes difficult to challenge, who decides what counts as a threat? And what happens to someone who refuses to accept that decision?

Three protagonists, three perspectives on the same world

Agatha: loyalty and conscience

Agatha once served as one of the institution's trusted operatives. Capable, disciplined and experienced, she believed in the work she was doing. Leaving that career behind does not put its influence beyond her reach.

Her story explores the distance between serving an organisation and standing by the principles that made her join it. For someone who knows the institution from within, walking away is only the beginning of a difficult choice.

Kaylia: beyond the official account

Kaylia approaches the Commonwealth as an investigative journalist. Her attention is drawn to details that do not fit: missing explanations, unanswered questions and evidence that resists an easy conclusion.

Her perspective follows the process of uncovering a story. Finding information is one challenge. Deciding what to do with it, and facing the consequences of continuing to look, is another.

Moses: public service from the inside

Moses is a former soldier who builds a new life within the Civil Protection Response Agency, or CPRA. His path offers the perspective of someone working inside public service.

Through him, the world can be encountered through individual cases, colleagues and responsibilities. Working within an institution does not mean knowing everything happening above or around you.

A connected world, experienced through its characters

Agatha, Kaylia and Moses are interconnected protagonists with different positions in the same world. Their stories approach its conflicts through loyalty, investigation and service. What one person understands may be hidden from another.

The aim is to create excitement and an interest in the people behind the larger conflict. Political history gives the world its structure, while relationships, convictions and personal decisions give readers a reason to stay.
